This coffee is a positive result of the farmgate initiative project, resulting in direct contact with farmers without any third-party profit. The 320 members of the Koerintji Barokah Bersama Cooperative selected a plateau with high altitude. The volcano ash at Mount Kerinci and minerals mix with the soil, making it the best selection for Indonesia coffee plants. It results in better quality control and maximum income for local farmers.

Cultivation of Indonesia Coffee
Small farms and intercropping techniques protect coffee plants through a natural shadow of nearly planted trees. It not only protects cherries from overripening but also allows farmers to cultivate the food for their families. For additional income, Indonesian farmers also generate income from tea plantations. The advanced techniques and controlled climate in processing units develop a juicy, black tea-like body.

Harvest and Post-Harvest
from hand-picking to final bed-drying, we constantly focus on quality assurance. The local farmers pick only well-ripe cherries and deliver them to the UPH collection centre. Barokah Kerinci buys these carefully selected cherries from farmers and starts the initial processing. Triyono and agriculture experts continuously monitor that all 9 UPH stations follow the same quality standards. After pulping and overnight fermentation, the station workers clean a thin sticky layer from the beans with clean water. Then, processed beans are transferred to raised beds and domes to protect them from environmental exposure.
